See Vermont through the eyes of an artist!A “plein air” competition challenges artists to focus on whatever is around them as they paint: sights and sounds, temperature and weather. These events take place in scenic communities across the country where the arts are a tradition and artists feel at home.
The Manchester and the Mountains region of southern Vermont is rural, beautiful and wonderfully sophisticated. Our incredibly vibrant arts community serves up a host of concerts, shows, and events - activities for young and old. Come here, stay here, play here, you may just wind up living here!

“Manchester has always been a special place for us... In summer we swim in the quarry, visit the Orvis fish pond or Northshire Bookstore. It has been our haven... When we decided to get married, we immediately chose Manchester! Each year, we will celebrate simply by returning to the village.”
Shawna Marie Way and Jean-Francois Larose of Saratoga, NY wed Dec. 11, 2010 in front of the Orvis Flagship store and then had a glorious carriage ride through the village.

“Manchester and the Mountains has charmed me since my first visit in 1970. Its natural beauty, its friendly residents and its laid-back style are such refreshments after having lived in the metropolitan NYC area. I invented my business, Backroad Discovery Tours, to show our visitors the people, places, history & ideas that make us so very unique and special." Sharon Connor created a way to be here and share her love of the area with others!
